Soon it will be time to go through the tackle box and straighten things up a bit.

Lake ice is still so thick.
Maybe our open water fishing will start during middle of May,  not May 5th.
But seems river water is running well,  it is all open ( I mean in Saskatoon).

It's the same down here - I was out a few days ago and LML was locked up solid but the river was fine.  All the flats at Valeport mash were still frozen but that may of changed  by now.

Ice is out in the NSR at the Battlefords. Fishable by the 5th is another question, but I guess one will have to try.

Flowing rivers, creeks and streams, might be our only option come opening day this year. :-\
Oh well I will take it, as long as I am fishing. ;)

Buzzbomb, I heard the Qu'Appelle River was suppose to be in flood watch again this year, how's it looking?
Has it burst it's banks yet?  ???

Looked fine to me, google sask water security agency (former watershed authority) and keep clicking through stream flows and lake levels o Quappelle River below Craven Dam (or wherever you want) and the graph will show real-time flowage compared to a base norm.  The spikes coincide with our main melt and the rain we just had.  The entry/gate area at Craven Jamboree grounds was under water a week ago but the river levels looked fine.

Probably not nightbird. :-\
When ever I do get out, I hope to try in some open water some where.

Thanks for the info, buzzbomb. I will check out the water security agency's website. :)

Very few water body is open for the starting day.
Black strap is only open a little at south end.
But north Sask river  is open,  and Borden Bridge is good to fish.
From below link,   you can see the  Borden Bridge water.

I will try  first out this coming weekend.

Fished Dellwood creek on the 6th with a couple of other anglers from Lanigan and 2 from watrous. everyone caught at least one. Saw 6 pike one walleye and 1 sucker pulled out. I had never seen a sucker at Dellwood must have made the trek from Last Mountain or caught a ride as a youngster with a pellican or some other bird. The Lake was still iced over but the creek  at the North end was running good.  The only open water at the south end was on the spillway.

Was out on Last Mountain today for a few hours, caught 8 pike biggest being 11lbs.  She was a stubby fatty looked like she had a football for a gut.  Water temp on my fish finder read 36 degrees. all and all good 1st day out in the boat.  Used my new daiwa sealine reel with 8.5ft rapapla trolling rod which I'm am very pleased with!

Looks like weather is going to be crap yet again so not sure when I'll be out next.
