Great to see someone taking advantage of MT's incredible natural resources.  Need time to do the same.

Does canyon ferry fish better in deep or shallow water for perch in the spring. Thanks for any tips. Not a good perch fisherman...... YET

They are headed into spawn at ice off, therefore I agree up shallow in the spring.

New to this site (been on iceshanty.com but didn't realize this site existed until a few days ago).  Trying to get a few posts so that I can gain access to specific lakes site.  Thought that I would mention that a friend and I put his boat in this last Monday.  No walleye, but couldn't ask for a nicer day for it's still being winter out.  All ice is gone from water surface (some jammed ice piles on some shorelines).  Wind conditions permitting, I will be putting my boat in on Friday.

Made my second trip out today.  Another flat calm day (thank goodness after yesterdays blow).  Water surface temp is now at 40 deg (was 36 on Monday).  Still having troubles locating walleye.  Caught one small walleye and two smallish trout, all were released.

I moved around quite a bit trying to locate eyes.  I started in vicinity of Hole in the Wall, moved over to area around Duck Creek,  then moved to Bun Hill, and then back to the flats between HIW and the Silos.  Water clarity from Silos north about a mile or so was below 1 foot, northern parts were about 2-3 feet.

I should also mention that I am a miserable walleye fisherman.  Have been at it for about three years now, but I still have a LOT to learn, especially on where/how to locate them.  Even though I have my good days, it seems like a lot of people I talk to at the boat launch catch a lot more, and catch them on a more consistent basis.

Launched at the Silos a couple weeks ago.  No problem at all getting in or out.
