Bass season is open in NY. Opened yesterday June 15th from now on. Just like Walleye it's a date now not a certain Saturday of the month.

OK opening day slammer! As I typed the question, I was thinking I should check the book. Tough to keep up with the changes...

KP, how does that work during a closed season? Must have weighed on certified scale and all. Nice fish and I'm happy for the angler!
Great job everyone!
Season opened on June 15th this year, Dave. That’s the opening day from now on, across NY.

By the way if you use your phone to show your license , take a pic of both sides so they know when you bought it
I was told to do that when I was checked ,even though the pic was time stamped

I'm just curious. Does anybody know whether the authorities notified the bass that the opening date had changed. It might have been a violation of their rights. Just saying.....

They got the memo where I fished. They were as tight lipped Wednesday as they have always been each first Saturday of June

Where's Trapper been? He would've straightened me out!  :P   He would pose an argument such as:
"If they're going by weight maybe the fish is still holding some eggs, making it easier to beat old records? Poor old record holders getting shafted by new regs!"

Guess I need to pay attention to my book a little more. I turned a couple nice LM back on wednesday. Oh well the gills and walleye are much better table fare anyway

Here’s a bass I caught today that had his breakfast stuck in his throat when I fed him lunch!!!😁🎣
