I never kept pickeral because the ones I have caught were small.  But I looked at a youtube video of filleting pickeral and was surprised that the bone structure of chain pickeral is different from northern pike.  According to the two videos I watched, pickeral have an additional set of floating bones toward the tail section that pike don't have.  I'm very surprised as I thought these two fish were very closely related.  I am used to filleting pike and removing the y-bones.  Once you get the hang of it, the process is not difficult.  Apparently pickeral are more complicated.  Does anyone have personal experience filleting pickeral?

I just use my electric fillet knife and if you keep the ones just legal size 15 to 17 inches and fry them well done the bones just about disintegrate personally that just chew well with all fish and remove the bones as I chew

My bride and I love pickerel patties.,
Just filet them and grind the rest .  Pretty darn good.. ;)
