Nashawannuck Pond, Easthampton MA
« on: Apr 21, 2022, 12:04 PM »
Just to let you know: there will be a community project at the Nashawannuck Pond boat ramp in Easthampton on Saturday, April 23 starting at noon. The pond has been shut down for several weeks in each of the last few summers due to a cyanobacteria bloom. Scientists have discovered that barley straw in the water prevents this. Volunteers will be installing bags of straw in the upper reaches of the pond where few people fish, but the parking lot and the ramp will be blocked. You can still use the ramp in the morning or fish along the shore (west side) anytime.

The bags are made to float so please do not disturb them this spring and summer.
