Cutty 2022

Made what is becoming my annual pilgrimage out to Cuttyhunk last week.  I arrived on Saturday while the rest of the gang got there a day earlier.  Last year I was ill prepared for the surf, terrain and style of fishing.  This year I invested in a bunch of new gear starting with a wetsuit and top along with a present to myself with a vsx 200 and ODM rod to pair.  I and the group faired much better this time around.  I landed multiple species of fish (stripers, shad and tautog) every day using both spinning and fly gear.  The first striper I landed was on the fly and about 22", prob the biggest of the week landed on the fly rod.  The tides were at odd hours so we primarily fished at night with the spinning gear.  I had the hot hand early and landed a handful of schoolies the first night while others struggled to land one or two.  I also had the big fish lead early in the week w a solid 15lb fish, my first big fish landed on a darter.  The other, more experienced guys, quickly caught up with fish upwards of 30+lbs, another around 25 and then a couple in the low teens.  We ate well, fished hard and took a lot of naps.  I couldn't ask for anything else on a vacation.  Unfortunately pics are a little difficult being in a wetsuit so many were released without a photo.

used to take my boat and fish around cuuty. loved the place haven't tried it in a few years. do the vineyard now. devils bridge
