Online outboard motors
« on: Jun 14, 2022, 12:09 PM »
I am finally moving-on from my old 2-stroke outboard motor and am shopping for a new 4-stroke unit.  I know timing isn't great with pricing, but I'm doing it anyway.  My question is this; has anybody had any experience with buying an outboard motor online, from a site such as Overton's?  Prices are definitely better than the brick-and-motor marine stores, but I'm concerned about warranty work, returns, etc.

Maybe I'm just old-fashioned, but buying a motor online just seems...odd.  I can't see myself using Carvana either 8)

Any feedback would be most appreciated.

Hi Mark. I purchased a 20hp 4-stroke Tohatsu 3 years ago from:
https://www.shortsmarine.com/repower-center
Delivered it right to my house and was 500$ cheaper than purchasing in state and have had no issues, been a great motor so far.

Thanks Matt.  I bought a Tohatsu 20 hp 4-stroke yesterday from a dealer downstate.  I couldn't bring myself to by something I couldn't put my hands on first 8)

Great units.  I think you'll enjoy it a lot.  The larger hp tohatsu's are made by honda.

Started with the break-in period this weekend.  So far so good.  I've had a couple of 1998 Tohatsu 2-stroke motors for years.
