First haul I let them live in the livewell.  This made cleaning them difficult when I got back.  Second trip I drained the livewells and iced em.  I dont bleed crappies, never had an issue.

The key to keeping any "meat" top quality is to keep it cold cold cold. Ice. Fillet, into ziplock and back on ice until ready to use or freeze. Drying your fillets is even better and will prolong the freshness. Palegic fish benefit from a 24 hour stay to dish out some of that extra blood before eating. Tuna time.

Nice work Jon! I just prefer the saltwater, colder water fish in the summer myself. Nothing wrong with fresh, region by region, i just prefer my freshwater eats from the ice and saltwater from the summer. Walleye, whites, anytime. Fluke, seabass, tuna...... now time.

I hear you Mike but im making due with what I have available 20 mins from home.  Cheap thrills on short time. Big boat goes to the shop next week but its a moot point.  My route to tuna land is currently littered with logs, trees, docks, and other dangerous items from the flooding.  Plum gut to block is currently a mine field.

Due to the lack of time for salt im likely to sell the proline and stratos end of this year to put the money down on a new ranger pro. The 622fs with a 400 has caught my eye.

I hear you about time, we have not even splashed the Trophy yet this year... When we do and do some offshore trips I will let you know.

Same.  Always willing to split fuel.  Buddies got tuna on the edge of block canyon and thats in range for me.  Having the boat sit is painful!
