Snuck out tonight for a few hours, was flat calm when I got out to where I wanted to fish then the wind picked up and it got pretty choppy, I spent more time playing with the new electronics and dialing In the settings than I did really fishing but did manage a couple short walleyes pretty awesome watching them eat on the livescope

Good stuff guys.

I second Jethro on being more of a lurker on here as over the last 2 years or so I've been struggling with the long rod, still determined though.

On that note, I've been considering hiring a guide for me and the old man. I've been doing some research and have a few in mind, but was wondering if anyone here had any recommendations?

I like exploring/ learning myself like with most of my other fishing rabbit holes I've been down, but I think a good guide would definitely help.

Massachusetts / In the Jungle

I fished "the Jungle" section of the South Hoosic in Cheshire for about an hour and a half after dinner this evening, from about 6:30 PM to a littlie after 7:30 PM.

It was mostly sunny and about 67 degrees, and the water levels were near ideal.

I ended up catching one 9" brookie and two (one 13" and one 15") browns.

Unfortunately, the brookie and larger brown ended up wrapping the line around sunken branches and getting injured when I retrieved them, so there wasn't much point in releasing them.

Since you cannot feed a family of fish (i.e., me, my wife, and four kids) with just two fish, and they tend to lose their flavor fairly quickly if you freeze them, I gave the two trout to a buddy of mine.

I have been alternating between mud hole and north fork composite for my spinning blanks. I have also bought blanks on eBay but have found a lot of blemishes and inconsistencies in them. No matter who you buy blanks from, the prices are up as the same for everything else.  Shipping can be free if you hit it right and buy over a certain amount. I usually wait and buy a half dozen blanks and components at a time and combine orders with a rod builder friend of mine when they offer free shipping.
One thing about mud hole I liked was the fact that I could call them up and actually talk to someone that knew what they were talking about and was  able to answer my questions.

Just off of dealing with them Trap. They’re not worth it

Was relaxing at a favorite spot after work this morning. Watching the gills on shore and the carp cruising  the surface.

Making plans for later in the week.
