Very nice, What’s the trick to catching the smaller ones (I know, odd question for most fishermen)? I’ve caught roughly a dozen lakers so far in the handfuls of trips I’ve made it out to that lake, and I’ve only caught two or three that were under the slot.

Nothing like a bucket-o-togue.

No tricks, just gotta put some time into finding them, and then some more time into figuring out what they will hit, and then more time finding the speed they will hit it at, and sometimes starting the process over a couple times a day, and if you figure all this out, you'll understand why so few people are fishing for them now. I will say this tho, if your looking for and targeting the schools of fish you can see on your fish finder, your pretty much wasting your time.
All we caught the beginning of the season was fat slot fish, very few keepers.
