Snakehead Tournament

(1/2) > >>

Fat Boy:
I heard that there is a snakehead tournament today on the Lower Potomac (MD, VA and DC).  Anyone catching a snakehead via rod and reel can redeem their fish and have a chance to win.  Winner gets a new boat.  It was on the news on TV this morning.  I'll do some research and post details.

I also heard a rumor that there is or was a tournament where every fish redeemed gets $50.  Again, more info to come if the rumor is true...

Fat Boy:
Today's tournament runs from 8:30 until 11:30 a.m., this info too late to enter I guess unless you hurry over there, but at least it makes for good reading and a good story.

On the other note, Bass Pro Shops is offering rewards on catching snakeheads.  Gene Mueller of the Washington Times writes:

OTIS:
I herd you can redeem your snakehead and claim your prise and any of the local Chinese buffets.

Chachi:
Forget the potomac, have it on meadow lake!! they found 6 snakeheads in one day there, and I bet there are a lot more.

FishDeepCreek:
I heard they can get out of water, and travel, maybe theyll will open a hunting season on them too. ;D I hope the problem dosnt get out of hand, hate to see fisheries ruined because of some ignorant fool, release non indignous fish into waters. I saw on TV about some kind of carp that was raised in texas..well during that big flood on the Mississippi 10 years ago the they got out of the ponds, and found there way into the Mississippi River, and end up migrating all the way into Minnesota! They showed these carp that literally fly up out of the water as a boat travels. They had these boats with side shields, almost like you see on walleye boats, but taller. These fish would leap and some landed in boats!
