Got outsmarted this morning. Big Trico hatch on the canal. The big gills were zeroed in on them and I didn’t have my fly rod.
Managed a few but nothing great. Bass were chasing shad that were hitting the tricks. Threw everything I gad at them with no results.

Bring on the cold weather!

i  have  a  TFO  4  piece in a  case  behind  my seat in the  truck ....it's like  american  express i never leave home  without it   

people  don't  think of  bluegills as  selective  but they  sure can  be  sorry  for the frustration RG  but sure  you will be  going back

Well, I’ll be at my shore fishing spot anyway. Went back there later today and found some nice fish. Don’t think I’ll sit in the rain in the boat. But, I can shore fish all day in the rain.

I now it's fly fishing blasphemy but I've used a fly behind a small bobber with my spinning rod when the bite dictates. I usually already have light line on if spinning for pans anyway.

Better include me too Trapper. I usually have a few nymphs, wet flies and surface stuff with me. Done the Bobber + fly many times.

This morning it was very overcast with light rain. I found a bunch in a sparse weed bed. Much better quality. Think I may go back towards sunset and see what happens. Still doing C&R for now.

Small ice jig with a red worm worked well. Funny, but they wouldn’t touch a wax worm.

Another day of fishing anyway.
