nice fish!  You kill them ???
give a man a fish and he will eat for a day.  Teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

What do you mean "You kill them???" I sure didn't eat them live.....lol
Yes, I killed them. I also bled them out by cutting their gills, before the long, UPHILL hike back to the truck. I was told by brother-in-law and some other fishermen on the river to bleed them out because it makes the meat better. I'm not sure if it's true or not since I am new to Salmon. I soaked some of the fillets in brine and smoked them on a Brinkman water smoker for a couple hours. It was some of the best fish I have eaten. I gave away alot of samples and the people couldn't believe how good they where. Especially for my first time.

Thanks for the compliments!!!!

Oh Yea! There was a fast current too.... peelin' line like crazy with the drag screamin'!! Some where "snagged" some of them actually took the bait.... It's weird cause your not supposed to deleberately snag them. However, alot do and it is overlooked, since the fish are going to die anyways. So really the state only checks limits. One of the smaller ones I got hit the bait and hard.... I about lost the pole. It jerked it out of my hands into the river...lol I grabbed it right away again...(about 20 feet away).

Nice kings!  They do bite.  And usually hit like a freight train.  A few more weeks for us NY's.
