gulf shores pier?

I just saw this thread, and was curious...
My mom was from the outskirts of Pensacola FL., and besides living down that same area for a couple years, and visiting the family over the years. We used to fish Gulf Shores and Shelby Lake often when we were down there.
I guess from reading this, the hurricane from a few years ago, took out the pier. What I was curious about, was...if anyone fishes Shelby Lake, and how is it?, since the hurricane. Which from what I remember was right across the road from Gulf Shores.
