Break-up Forcasts & Reports?

Just want to see what anyone knows about ice breaking up in central alberta...  I drove by Chip Lake on the weekend & it still looks pretty frozen to me.  Wabamun is more than half open now from the looks of things.  Pembina & Macleod River between Edmonton & Edson are more than half open, but still look a little dangerous for off-shore fishing.  I'm praying things will look a whole lot better for May-long but i'm having my doubts.  Anyone seen anywhere else looking better?

Well that's definately a good sign!  You hammering Hasse, Wildman?  How's the fish biting?  The rain we're getting right now will hopefully help things along everywhere else too.

so......went to one of our fav. potholes on the weekend...
shoulda known better, it being north by a few hours.....all ice with only 2-3ft open around the shore!!!!!!!! ]

shoulda known. a few hours north and we had well over 3' of ice this year!!!!!!!!
probably a few more weeks at least!!!!!!
the local potholes are wide open tho!!!!

My local pot hole down here has had the ice off it for weeks now but they haven't stocked the d**n thing yet! They stocked it in April last year! Anybody got an idea when they are planning to stock or where i can find that out?

They just come around with a truck & throw the fish on the ice & wait for it to melt!  Lol!  Actually I have no idea when stocked lakes are stocked.  So you live south, right Kenneth?  At least you hit some lakes on May-long.  Things are looking pretty bad up here in central AB...

yeah i was up at Pine Lake 2 weekends ago and the ice still looked quite thick. I don't think any lakes around there are going to be good to go by May long either. Its supposed to rain for the next week though so that should help get rid of a lot of the ice. Fingers crossed though... Guess i will just have to fish the bow for now! I have been hearing reports that where the Bow meets the sheep river is really good for rainbows right now, probably going to give it a shot on thursday

Awesome report you guys found - pretty useful!  Too bad we can't find 2007 & 2008, eh?  Should be similar to 2006 though!

They have started stocking the potholes. I watched a truck unloading at a lake not too long ago. The driver said this was his second load of 20-25 cm rainbows for a total of 41000 fish. Most of the fish I saw seemed more like 15cm though.
