Song for those with Leaky Waders
« on: Oct 05, 2020, 08:32 PM »
These are lyrics (sung to the tune "A Man of Constant Sorrows" from O Brother Where Art Thou?) that I found on another fishing website - - and can most certainly relate to:

In constant sorrow through his days

I am a fly fisher of constant soggy bottoms
I've seen trouble all my day
I bid farewell to old Kentucky
The place where I was born and raised

The place where he was born and raised

For six long years I've been fly fishing
No pleasures here on earth I found
For in this world I'm bound to be soggy
I have no friends to help me now

He has no friends to help him now

It's fare thee well my old waders
I never expect to see you again
For I'm bound to be wet forever
Perhaps I'll die with wet bottoms

Perhaps he'll die with wet bottoms

You can bury me in some deep valley
For many years where I may lay
Then you may dare to wade again
While I am sleeping in my grave

While he is sleeping in his grave

Maybe your friends think I'm just a wet wader
My soggy bottom you'll never see no more
But there is one promise that is given
I'll meet you on God's golden shore

Hahaha!  I live this life.  Every simms wader I have ever owned has leaked at the seams.  Freestones, g3's and now I'm on to g4's.  If they leak...I quit simms.

Way ahead of you. So far, very impressed with LL bean. Going on season 5 with no leaks.

Ditto, gave up on Simms with my last pair.  The construction doesn't warrant the price.  The Redington Sonic Pros have been wonderful so far.  I have friends that swear by the LL Beans as well.  I've been very happy with their rods and they have no issues replacing them if you damage one, at zero cost to you.

Sharps:

I'm currently in the market for a new pair of waders, and was impressed by your report of 5 seasons with no leaks with your LL Beans.

Would you mind sharing the make/model of your waders and (assuming they are "stocking foot") boots?

Also, as to the sizing, in your opinion, if I  am 5"10" and ordinarily wear a 9 & 1/2 shoe, should I go up one size to a 10 (since every manufacturer's sizes are a bit different)?

Id blow those ll beans out too.  300 days a year is tough on waders.  Subsequently I'd suspect Jim would run into the same issues I do. Most of these expensive waders cater to the fair weather fishermen it seems.  The g3's and g4's are American made.  We'll see how the g4's last.  (They netter for 740 bucks)
