By the way, wet leaves are tougher to suck and mulch.
They tend to plug up the turbine and then I have to take it apart and clean it.

I could break one of those.   :-[
One more with the one we're after and we'll have two.
The brook trout is the prom queen of the trout world, and a promiscuous prom queen at that!

Rg could you just rent one for a day? Even if you do it every year for the next 10 or so you'd still save some cheddar

A few years back I tried to rent a chipper here in the Buffalo area.
The 2 places I called said they stopped renting them because of the liability and also because they always came back broken.
They said people were simply trying to chip up too big a branch.
So I stopped looking.
I put the stuff out to the curb instead.

Yeah, I checked a couple of places. They don't rent them around here ever. I don't mind spending some cash if I find a deal and it's not like my world will come to a halt if I don't find one this year.

Heck, I can get a double bagger for my John deer for about $300 with my discount at work. That'll mulch any leaves I have and add some green matter as well. All I have to do is drive around. The more I think about it, that may be a better way to go.

I hate raking leaves.

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

That's why I cut all my trees down.

No wonder your dome gets burned so easily.

Do you have a riding mower ?? Then run over them and bag em..  but be careful around deep piles cause they get in the  drive belts..  seen a guy on 5 and hagerty he left his tractor running...   it was starting to catch fire cause leaves were in the drive belts...  guy was not around so kept going..  any how clean the belts so no fire starts.. instead of raking mow them..

My lot is 50' x 150'.

Nope - no rider.   :D

But it's fenced.
And all of the leaves blow into my yard and get trapped.
So I gotta rake.
And, I use the mulch from them in my garden, which laid fallow this year (another story).

Also, the leaves blow up under an overhang on the back of my house, between it and the AC unit.
I don't need "critters" nesting in there for the winter, and chewing on the wiring and tubing of the AC unit, etc.

So I rake.

Besides, as Bob will attest, I'm kinda "bulky".
So any form of outdoor activity is good.
 ;D

Bob - all of this is making me hungry.
We need to hook up for lunch.
It's been a while since last time.
I can bring a rod and reel.

Made up a couple batches of sauce . One in the pot.

One in the canner.

And....some for dinner. Linguini and meatballs tonight ;D

I'm getting hungry too :w00t:

huh?

(I know)

Got a question.
I've been canning salsa.
And the water from the canner is getting into the jars.

I'm cold canning and I think this is why.

Salsa is cold when going into jars.
Allowed to sit an hour or more while the water in the canner is coming to a boil, but still only room temp.

I tightened the rings by hand this last time.
Had like 1/2"-3/4" space in top for expansion.
When I take out the jars they are full - no air gap.
And if left on the counter to cool, things settle and float upward, leaving about 1/2"-1" of liquid in the bottom.

Do you think I should bring the salsa to a boil and then transfer it into the sterilized and hot jar before inserting the jars into the canner to avoid the water I'm getting?

Stupid iPad.

I always fill hot jars with hot salsa or anything else I'm canning. Never had but maybe a couple of jars that didn't seal. Stuck them in the fridge. None have separated. Are you removing as much water from the tomatoes as possible? I give them a good squish to remove some of the seeds and as much water as I can. Then they sit in a colander to drain some more.

Made some spicy meatballs for supper.
