« on: May 09, 2004, 02:20 PM »
went to fish chautauqua lake last night but ended up waiting out the severe thunderstorms.we finaly got out on the lake an hour before sunrise.in the couple hours we fished this morning we only got a couple keepin size eyes 18 & 20 inches

and a few more just short

the walleye fishing was a bit slow but we ended up catching and releasing over a dozen huge smallmouth bass

one of the largest smallmouths i landed

another huge bass my brother landed

i caught the lunker walleye of the day

also lost a huge walleye just out of reach of the net   7-8 lb'er

I caught a bass that big last night on a skitter pop! The lure was almost as big as him!

Who know's what the fish are thinking when they eat things like that ???

i was using a hook & split shot with a 2.5" emerald shiner minnow near bottom--
my brother was using a small jighead tipped with a minnow
tried lively leaches and nightcrawlers -no bites on those

Fishing isn't a matter of life or death, it's much more important than that!

I live with FEAR everyday, and sometimes she lets me go fishing!
