Just curious to see how many fishing rods people own. I am asking about open water rods.
Jon
-
Jon I never really counted until you asked this - good question ! ???
6 fly rod outfits
5 spinning outfits
-
More than I need, but not as many as I want. ;D
-
Too many.............
-
Many more then my wife thinks I have. I am running out of places to stash them. LOL ;D
-
3 dozen or more. Never enough. Always want more. Was just drawing up plans for a rod locker as they are stashed all over. I should just have a yard sale and downsize.
-
5 for me
11' steelhead rod
10' crappie rod
2-8.5' n.pike rods
9' flyrod
thats all i need if i had more theyd just gather dust 8)
-
does that count ice fishing rods?
what about rods w/ out reels?
if so i should adjust mine to choice 7. -- way too freaking many.
-
Without going home and counting, my guess is somewhere around 45-50 for open water another 15-20 for icefishing. I'm sure I'll buy more before the summer. Oh yeah, I have reels for every rod too. I don't take from one to put on another.
Sandman, when you have that yard sale, gimme a call. :)
-
I use 5 for muskie, 9 for bait and trolling, and have 7 or 8 that are retired or used for the kids.
-
Pete are you planning on adding to the sale or buying from the sale???
I would say the wife and myself have, too many, we each have 4 baitcasters, 4 ultra lites, 6'-7', 4 spinning, 1 fly rod , 1 surf caster, 2 trolling rods, maybe more I can't think of any now. Come on open water.
-
SELL ????? Are you nuts ??
-
With over 54 comlete outfits I cann't stop buying now! A few of these I inharated through the death of my fathernlaw. But it is nice when I look at what I got and go to the stores and I have more than them. And yes I do use them except the split bamboo flyrods. they are their mostly for show. And as far as tackle boxes I have 5 massive boxes all Full. Now this week is the fishing expo I guees I'll have to go and get somemore stuff.
Cold Feet

Peter Peter the Walleye eater. What was I thinking about. I got to keep the premo rods for myself and keep the functional ones for guests visiting my house that fish off the dock or go out with me. In fact, I got to get more! I do have an over abundance of Bass lures those companies sent me . But, I know you're not into that. Thanks for the wake up!!
-
shhhhh 17 dont tell wifee!!couple more by opening day ;D
-
I'm guessing around 36 rods . 6 salmon trolling rods , 3 musky , 8' & 10' noodle rods , too many other numerous rods. Not even counting all the ice rods
-
Probably too many. Buying new rods and reels is allmost as addicting as buying new lures. Yesterday my wife told me I buy lures "like they were candy". It must be genetic because my 6 year old twin boys are allready showing signs of the affliction. ;D
-
26 for open water...from 3wt fly to party boat meat stick.
RG
-
About 30 open water, 10 ice fishing . 2 fly rods.
And 2 Whirl-a-ways. ;D
Shark
-
15 ice
5 open+ trot lines
-
5 ice
7 baitcasters
3 med action spinning
2 ulta lite spinning
1 fly rod
-
I have six spinning combos for now.One saltwater setup for musky and catfish. Two medium setups for bass and walleye. Two ultralight setups for trout and crappie. One flyrod that I'm still trying to figure out how to cast.I have more reels that need poles.( I only buy Ugly Sticks anymore because I snap the tips off) I had a baitcaster but I returned it because I couldn't figure out how to cast it without either a birdsnest or a 10 foot cast.I just got back from Gander Mountain with some more lures and odds and ends, but I'm good for now with rods.
-
I don't even remember how many rod's I have had in my lifetime. I fish a lot, so I use many rods. My favorite rod has to be my Musky rod.
-
um i need more rods but noplace to put them
-
Never ENOUGH
-
4 flyrods
12+ spinning
3 baitcaster
Just watched a Roland Martin show over the weekend. He was panfishing with his grandson using a closed-face spin casting outfit by Johnson-Century. Used to have one of those when I was a kid and watching the program made me want to go out and get a couple of those for old times...
-
You don't want to know.
I'm with jiigenstick, you can never have enough.
Which reminds me of the story where the wife asked the husband "Why do you have so many fishing poles?" to which he replied:
"Why do you have so many shoes"?
-
I never say no when my wife wants to buy something for herself. I just quietly keep track so I can use it for ammunition when I want another gun or rod! ;D
-
Cider,
The wife and I have a system, whatever I buy or she buys the other gets the same value. Its a great system and works well.
Jon
-
Jon - sounds like a good system for you. But... My wife rarely buys anything for herself and when she does it usually doesn't cost much over $20-30. If I followed that.... Well let's just say I would be rockin' chair bound by the time I had all the toys I ever wanted! ;D
-
1 spinning rod. I basically never summer fish so not much need for any more than that. I am considering buying a new rod and reel for summer. Have 12 ice rods, 4 rod/spinning reel combos, and a bunch of the old ones with the cheap plactic "reel".
-
way to many almost bought another one today 2 fly rods, 5 casting/surf rods for saltwater and trolling for trout, 10 ultra llites , and 5 heavier rods for drifting for trout and catching bigger bass
-
i have about 8 spinning reels. 3 of which we use heavily. 3 bait casters. i only use one. oodles of spincast rods and reels from our younger days. 1 fly rod. 1 noodle rod also. 2 okuma trolling rods. alot of rods and reels.
-
13 for open water. Some of them just hang on the wall, though. I need a new bait-casting rod, but unless I get filthy wealthy, I'm good for a while.
-
I have 12 rods. 5 baitcasters, 5 spinning, 1 steelhead, and 1 fly rod.

-

FTD
-
This is freaky..........just tonight we were unpacking the rest of the stuff shipped home during the move back to Indiana from Luxembourg and my wife counted them all up.
Including the ice fishing poles, I have 53 ranging from 15ft 3lb carp rods to 11.5M (about 35ft) cane poles to ultra-lites and ice fishing stuff.
And my wife's been letting me know about it ever since she counted them ???
-
way to many, I only use about 6 of them.
-
i got down to 5 rods and 2 ice rods that i use. 2 are for pannies,2 for medium fishing and 1 combo pike and salmon rod. i wheel and deal in new and used ice lures and poles and reels so i keep well stocked in that area. i just got into the ice fishing trade because i wanted a new hobby and it nice saving my fellow fishers money by being the middle man. if you need any ice stuff my email address is bigdave1018@ usadatanet.com tks big dave

Posted by: Cider Aww, com'on and admit it... When no one is looking you like to fish with snoopy!!
Cider: The truth is out!! ;D ;D
-
Well lets see.......if I was to sell them all for a dollar each I could retire. Oooops, forget about that, Gander Mountain is opening in a few weeks and I'm just gonna add to the collection. Sick I am.......and Doc say's theres no cure.........lucky me!!! ;D

Cider,

Jon
Jon,
You must have lost your noggin... :o If I did that she would need a house all to herself just to keep her stuff not to mention my bank account would never survive. My hobbies, by far outprice hers atleast $50 to $1. She doesn't know that, but I do. I think I'm with Mike on this one. She gets what she wants and I never complain. She is very smart and has a general idea, but actual $ amounts spent will never be mentioned. My toybox fund is top secret and guarded by dozens of secret codes, an army of armed gaurds, and a 140# Rot that will eat all of the evidence b4 anyone sees anything. ;D
BTW, I only have about a dozen open water fishing rods. Out of that dozen I only use 3 on any given day. With 3 people in our boat with 3 rods a piece our 16' boat can get a little cramped. I use 2 6' med rods and 1 5' ultralight rod all the time. If I am shore fishing or something else I will bring one of my other rods as I am not as concerned about getting sand in the reels or losing them.
-
I'm somewhere in the 50 rod area........ From pan fish to shark.
-
I have so many I used to give them away but now I save them for my boy when he is ready to fish. I am running out of garage space cause it is littered with tackle and rods.
-
9. 1 is for cats, 2 are for river trout, and 4 for bass, pike, walleye, etc. (different lenghts and whatever). I also have 2 fold up rods for backpacking fishing. They aren't very good but they are convenient and take little space and are light which is essential when hiking many miles in the 10,000ft.+ mountains.
-
Eleven Open water setups and 8 ice fishing setups. I have two baitcasting setups and the rest spinning.
Tyler
-
3 baitcasters
8 spinning combos
1 Salmon/Steelhead rod
2 UL spinning combos
3 ice combos (trust me, there will be a lot more this year...last year was my first year on the ice!)
-Zach
Oh yeah, just bought a new All-Star spinning rod from Cabelas...just waiting for it to get here ;D
-
i have plenty but i bought another outfit at a barn sale last week in fair haven on west bay road. this guy had so much fishing stuff it was crazy!!!!! i bought a brand new daiwa med. light spinning rod and reel for 20$!!!!!! the reel alone [daiwa regalz2500 ] was in the bps catolog for 49.95!!!!! he also had at least 1000 lures for bass ands salmonoid fishing [some brand new] for 3 $ each. he also had 3 custom noodle rods there for 20$ each and im kicking myself for not getting them. they would cost upwards of 150$ each to buy from a rodmaker :(. it was an awesome sale. he has his ad in the wolcott shopper and usually runs from a tues. till sat .or sun. he lives in webster but owns the barn in fair haven. big dave [smiling as always] out.
-
I just went out to my office and counted them. The number was 47. I guess since I fish for multiple species I have collected quite a few. Some are technique specific. Fish2win
-
Well, there are 5 in the car right now. Plus some in the living room. Plus some in the closet. Plus the ice rods. Plus some still at my mom's from before heading off to college in 1990.
I checked the last option ;D
-
I have 15 rods all togerther and 9 tackle boxes
-
Well, I have about 20, half dozen ice fishing rods, a couple of ultra light for blue gills, a couple of light weight for the kids, a few medium weight, a couple of stiff trolling rods. a couple of catfish poles, a couple of long poles for crappie rigging. Not to mention a five gallon bucket filled with broken rods but we don't count those........
-
This is a question I get asked by alot of people and when I reply "do you mean fly rods, spinning rods, casting rods, trolling rods or ice rods?" they give me this queer look. And I usually just reply "what??" ;D

Of course you can't have too many, I'm always adding to my collection, but I really don't need that many rods. I wish I could have as many fly rods as you, although I'm still learning, but I'm still quite young and my job can only buy me so many rods along with everything else I am trying to (or in process of) purchasing....car, boat, car insurance, high maintenance girlfriend... ::)
-
Rods # 12 & #13 are on the way to me as I am typing this message, hopefully they will be here in a day or two.
