Those foam boards are great I keep all my bucktails on them in boats that way not contained in a box with all the moisture

Been messing around with this idea for a bluegill fly.
Might get their interest.

I think trout would nail those too.

Could be. Never met a trout I liked as much as a bluegill.
Just me I guess.

Playing with this Thunder Creek pattern for gills.
Tricky on small sized flies. I usually tie them on #6 and up. These are #12.

Those remind me of my favorite streamer, Mickey Finn! Still catches trout!

Hey RG those are some awesome Gill Flies you shared! Question for the setup your using; is that a block of wood with 6 modified vices to tie 6 at a time? If so that's a really nifty idea! In my vice last night had 2 zebra midges, a black one and then an olive one, do really well with those patterns nymphing.

Nah, those are just some clips I picked up to dry cements and such. I tie on a Dyna King ultimate indexer.
Been working out another small floating fly for gills.
#14 TMC100 hook.
Saw a similar pattern scouting around. Thought I’d take a shot at it. Gonna take this a bit further.

A few more in that style.
#12 r 200 hook
Fun little pattern.
And speaking of the Mickey Finn
They were on my list. Never head to the stream without them.

No, I use a medium copper wire for the rib and coat the head with UV resin. The copper is more than enough weight for most currents.
The Finn was the first fly I ever tied on and the first fly I attempted to tie……attempted being the operative word.
Can’t count the fish that pattern has caught for me.
