It’s a disease……addiction…….obsession….whatever you want to call it. To me it’s much like woodworking. The mind gets to wander and every so often something unique or useful is created.
But best of all is the peace of focusing on something that’s all your own.
And the bonus is you get to go fly fishing. Win….win!

Yup. It’s one of the reasons I like working at the golf course. I get to socialize and keep my mind thinking. Good stuff for an old fart like me.

Hey Now!
I am planning on fishing a small adirondack trout lake the following weekend?
(Siamese pond wilderness area)
Any recommendations on any particular flies to use?
Thanks in advance,
Jeremy

I’m not much of a trout fisher but I’d think some of the traditional streamer patterns would be my first choices.
Mickey Finns would certainly be in my box and maybe some dace patterns.

Bumping up the thread. I've had some good luck on these lately walking some RI beaches as the sand eels are in town. The stripers won't touch anything too big or with flash so keeping the colors simple and they are gobbling these up.

I tie some similar for Crappie.
I like the UV heads . I think they pick up some light.

Gotta love those thunder creeks. Seems like it’s a long forgotten trout fly that still is one of my most productive streamers.
Hard to find commercially nowadays so I attempt to tie my own. Seems like I tie too far forward and it makes the hair splay out. Then it’s the task of finding deer hair long enough to use

Nah. I’ve collected a few bucktails over the years in different colors. I don’t do any dyeing.
Only thing with them is some of them tend to smell pretty bad.

Just sitting on my deck. This dandy landed next to my foot. No idea what it is but would be interesting to see if I could tie his replica. Check out that tail.

Break out the wing burners and micro fibbits.! Don’t know how you’d duplicate the body.
