I watched a couple of videos on Youtube showing how to make a leech trap out of pie tins or aluminum foil pans. I wish I knew of a pond with leeches in it to give it a try. Just fold the pans in half, poke some 3/8 dia hole in it, clamp it to together with 4 binder clips with some meat/fish guts and weight inside. Tie some heavy line to it and throw it in a pond. Check it early the next morning and remove the leeches. looked simple, probably won't work.

When I was young there was a farm pond with leaches and a older guy used to use them for bullheads..he used to use a light woven burlap sack with liver in it ..the leaches he said could squeeze themselves through burlap and feed on liver he would pull bag in morning and collect them

Did you place your traps before nightfall and check them  before first light?

I use to pick up leeches at night
with flash light in shallow creeks they come out at night
they come out like night crawlers
I used a small minnow net with a long   wood dowel handle
I will try this way , pie tin also  something new to learn

I did and checked the traps for nearly a week with fresh liver every couple days     Nothing
