Ice off 2023
« on: Mar 17, 2023, 06:19 PM »
So when is everyone's guess for ice off, Temps have really turned around here so might be a few more weeks and can get the boats out and do some open water fishing, just hope it is better than the ice fishing this year.

So here goes my guesses for around here April 16th for the small lakes and around April 26th for the big lake.

The river has started to open up a little bit but still going to be awhile.

Theres one small lake west of Cheyenne thats been open for a week. The lakes around wheatland should be completely open in another week.  Glendo might be two more weeks in that inbetween zone where theres ice but its not fishable.  Overall much later ice off than the past few years.  Some lakes above 7k could be another month.

North Platte River flushing flows to flush silt out of the trout spawning areas below Gray Reef are scheduled to start tomorrow and run for 9 or 10 days.  That will add a fair amount of water to Glendo and should help break up the ice.

So anyone seeing any signs of the lakes around them starting to open up, still looks.like a few more weeks up here for anything like that.
