depth??
« on: Jun 28, 2006, 12:26 PM »
Where approximately do these guys hang out?  Shallow so they can get their meal out of smaller fish?  Does their habitat in terms of depth change during the day & at night?

Thanks in advance

good advice from Slipbob....I also agree about walleye being just about anywhere...including hot, bright and sunny days...ditto for some of my biggest being caught in 4-5 FOW....nightfishing generally brings the feeding frenzy on...and generally alot fo eater size fish will be the norm....Grump

One all encompassing rule to walleye is they are very spooky especially when shallow.  If you can sneak around the lake you will do better.  Someone drops a beer can in the boat and that thud will make em scatter.
I'm going to third the shallow water thing.  I've caught them as shallow as 2 feet after dark.
Figure out where and what the forage is for your lake and you will find the walleyes.
care for a warm up?
