Zebco pro series spinning reel

I went to the first garage sale of the season this morning, and bought a great big reel, a Zebco Pro Series S8 with longcast spool that holds an incredible amount of line.   490yds of 12 lb,330yds of 16 lb or 240 yds of 21 lb.   It should do real good for carp fishing.  It says ball bearing on it, but not how many, and the web sites I looked at only seemed to have a similar, but smaller version.  The guy said it was his cousins and he was mad at him for not getting his stuff out of his basement so he was selling it!That's a special kind of person!  Does anyone have experience with this behemoth of a reel?  It was originally used for salmon fishing out on the west coast.  Could it be a saltwater reel?  I got it and an 8' med/heavy rod for $40  ;D ;D
