What do you prefer??
« on: Mar 07, 2004, 04:17 PM »
What kind of fishing rods do you prefer? (UL,L,M,ML...ETC.) I personally prefer to use UL rods whenever i can, fighting big fish on light rods and lighter line is always a blast. Casting spinners to spawning lakers, browns, and salmon is always fun too, just what i prefer, what about you??

I guess I've collected just about everything from 3 weight flyrods to salt water party boat rods that look like a tow truck boom with a reel.

For panfishing I generally use an 8' ML slow action rod.

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

I havent found one I prefer yet. With 54 complete outfits in the basement I think their is no one outfit out their that fits all my needs. I will say stay with quality equipment it doesnt have to cost big bucks but it has to be of quality.  ;D

Before I got married and had 3 children I used to build alot of my rods. Very satisfying and fairly easy. Even bought a book on custom thread art.
Kids are older now ,I may get back into it.

I use a ultralight rod for trout and panfish and a medium action for bass. I think a lighter action rod is more versitile than a heavier one.

ive had great success with the walmart trout series rods, i bought the 5.6 and the 6 footer, both did very well. they were 17.99 on sale. i like cork handled rods. i also use a quantum super ultra light in the 6-6 ft. model. it only weighs about 1 pound if that. i also own a fenwick 6 ft eagle. its a nice rod nothing extra though.
