I'm not familiar with that reel. What is wrong with it?

The thumb bar doesn't return back up or does so very weakly.  I'm inexperienced with baitcasters having used spinning gear most my life.  My father gave me this reel several years ago and I've tried using it only to be frustrated.  :-[     At the end of last season, I noticed the thumb bar was not popping back up.  After looking at a few diagrams I figure there is something wrong with the return spring.  Shamano, in their website, states they do not carry parts for this reel anymore.

If I dare, I might attempt it myself.  Reassembly is not one of my gifts  :)

Thanks for the website fishercat.

OK, my bad.   :-[  After much closer inspection, I think all it needs is some lubrication.  Thanks for your input

Years ago My father sent out bait casters to Bass Pro to get serviced.  They did an excellent job, and the price wasn't bad at all.  I'm not certain if they provide that service any longer though.

I oiled it and that seemed to help the thumb bar return to the up position. I think the bar should snap up when released but it's still kind of sluggish.  I tried some practice casts........I'm hopeless with it.  It will make a good trolling reel...  :-[

I contacted Shimano and they don't make parts or provide service for this particular model.

I think I'll stick with my spinning gear.

Thanks for asking

On all the reels I've seen, the thumb bar doesn't pop/snap back up until the reel handle is turned. Unless I'm thinking of something wrong here :-\
