2 Fish Finders
« on: May 27, 2007, 09:21 AM »
Hey Guys and Gals

Just was wondering about something. I'm gonna add a second fish finder to the boat and was wondering if the sonars can be mounted near each other? If I put it on the other side then the trolling motor will be in the way of it. The fish finders are not the same brand. Any idea's???

Think of mounting it on the trolling motor, or are you going to have it dedicated to always being in the water?

No its gonna go on the back of the boat. Just figured if I put it on the side of the trolling motor the prop would mess with the sonar? So was wondering if it sat next to the other sonar if it would mess them both up or not?

I wouldn't think they would cause any interference, but you might want to be sure  they are separated by a good distance, if possible.

Cabeleas sells a mount specifically for this.  I have one and it seems to work well.  On my sonar rig I have never had interference unless there is a vexilar within a few feet as in ice fishing.  I only had to adjust my noise reduction a little to weed it out.

YOU WOULD THINK THAT THE PROP WASH WOULD MESS THE SONAR UP??? GUESS NOT IF THEY SELL THEM FOR THAT KIND OF USE. I WANT TO MOUNT THE SONAR TO THE BOAT,SO AFTER SEEING THAT I GUESS I COULD MOUNT IT ON THE SAME SIDE AS THE TROLLING MOTOR. ULTIMATLY I WANT TO MOUNT THE TROLLING MOTOR UP FRONT,BUT MY BOAT IS NOT A OPEN BOW SO HAVE TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO MOUNT IT.

???  The prop wash is behind the transducer.  Even in reverse however I personally have had no issues.  Others maybe but not here.  Good luck!!!

WELL ITS ALL HOOKED UP AND RUNNING. WORKS GREAT. THE TROLLING PROP SEEMS TO HAVE NO EFFECT ON THE FINDER. MUCH NICER HAVING A FINDER AT THE REAR OF THE BOAT. SMALL ONE IN FRONT. THANKS EVERYONE.
