The G-Grub
« on: Jun 01, 2007, 02:11 PM »
Hi fellow anglers,

Have any of you ever tried Mister Twister's newer lure called the G-Grub? :-\

If so what did you think of them, what was your favorate colore and what species did you catch?
Did you use a rattle in it or not?

I think they are a neat looking lure that should appeal to most game fish.
It looks to be hybrid between a regular grub and a leech lure. :)

The Mister Twister has a short video on the G-Grub.
Just go to there website, click on the G-Grub, and click on more information.

I guess I haven't watched the video, but what is that supposed to represent? It doesn't look like anything. Man, it seems like a guy can get lost or bury himself in all the different choices and new products.

I watched the video and can see that it should be productive, but like every other lure , they're video makes it look dynomite.
Twisters are known to work well so I might get a couple colors and try them.   I'll post a report after [ first I have to find some].....

Man Mooter, you gotta start shopping somewhere else. Cabelas has them for 2.59 for either 6 or 8 depending on the size.

I just got my G grubs from Cabelas, they are real soft and look like they might work pretty well, I'm going out to one of the local lakes this evening and try them out,   I'll post my opinion tomorrow...

Tried them briefly, They don't have the action in the tail that regular twisters do but the fin has a nice riple to it.    The fin is actually split[ two fins , side by side] and the hook comes out in between them, kind of weedless.
I used the watermelon first then the motor oil .   I did get a few light hits but no takers , It could have been the weather or the day, [ after changing to a jig head and crawler I picked up 3 eyes and 4 perch. [ 2 eyes were under size]  Maybe the g-grubs are a little big[ 3'' ] for the fish that were around me.
I do think they will work , given the right situation, we will try them again and see if the bass like them  ;).

Thanks for the report Wizard.  Sounds like the fish wanted live bait and a different look and flavor than the G-grub. Keep up the good work.

Took a kayak trip down the genesee tonight with the boy , caught 4-5 smallies and a rockbass,  only fished a few holes because of our time limit but the g-grub seemed to work for bass just fine.         Now I'll try for the eyes again.

Thanks for the report Wizard. :)

Did the fish prefer one color over the other?

Did you add a rattle to the tail?

Do they have a scent?

When I first saw them in a magazine they looked good.
If I ever see them I will also give them a try. ;D

In the river where I caught the fish , I only tried the watermelon color so that doesn't prove to much but I'll keep trying and posting.
The packages of grubs didn't come w/ rattles or inserts , I didn't see them as extras to order them so to that question ''no''.     There doesn't seem to be any scent made into them and I didn't add any.
Casting them into the current of the river gives them a little more action than still water of a lake [ short of ripping them in at a fast retrieve] .
I don't think they look anything at all like a leach;  more like a saltwater creature like a sea butterfly or something.   They are different thats for sure. :)

I was in Wal Mart the other day, while brosing through the sporting goods section I notices some G-Grubs.
Now they only had one color{pumpkin} and one size{4"} at the time, but, I picked some up anyways. ;D

Like the wizard said they have a spit fin and when you add the hook it fits nicely between the two fins.
They appear to be fairly weedless.
The texture of the G-Grub is soft and squishy, there is two small holes in the tail were a person could add scent or a rattle.

I will give them a try on the pike and walleye the next time I go fishing.
I hope the G-Grubs are as appealing to the fish as they were to me. ;)
