Braided line
« on: Jun 18, 2007, 09:00 AM »
I recently obtained some Power Pro fishing line 20Lb test. Was gonna use it on a boat rod for fluke fishing originally, but now I'm thinking about using it for freshwater bass fishing...................I have several reels roughly same size to put it on, but my dilemma or question is: will this mess up a spool? I know in the 'old ' days when braids first came out it was a big NO NO but not so sure about nowadays. I have shimano reels Spirex 4000 ,Sedona 4000, Sustain 4000, and a Stella 4000,any advice would be greatly appreciated, I'd hate to mess up any reel but I ESPECIALLY would hate to mess up my Sustain or Stella.

I use a Palomar Knot. Quick and easy!

I thought I read or heard that the line will dig into itself and cut off. I'll take your word for it and try it though.......how often do you retie?

As with any knot, make sure you moisten it before pulling tight. I recheck the knot after every fish/bite/snag and only retie when I feel there might be a problem. Have never had a Palomar fail!
