Laker fishing trip (PIC HEAVY)
« on: Jul 05, 2012, 11:22 PM »
It was an awesome trip with 6 solid days of fishing. The weather was kinda wet and cold but it didn't stop us from sitting in the boat 8 to 12 hours a day. Here are some scenery pics.

And no trip is complete without some animal pics.

Ok now here's some of the fish that we caught.

My trophy of the trip.

My wife Cheryl (AKA Fish Advocate) got in on some action as well.

It was a good trip had by all. Can't wait to get out again!

You got a measurement on one of the big ones and it was 36". We decided not to stress them out and get them right back in the water after a quick picture. We also fished for rainbow a couple of times. It was good action with the biggest at 2 1/2 lbs.

That trip looks like some good action and great fishing.   We tried it there in May for 2 days and only caught 1 five pounder,  it sucked.    I'm glad the techniques you were using worked a lot better than what we did.    was it busy there?

2 other boats were there and they were in for just a day but one boat caught 2 lakers about 20 lbs each and took them with them.  :'(

I thought most of the lakes around pg are catch and release now?

Does that lake have those restrictions? I.e., were those other guys 'poaching'?

This lake has regular restrictions but if a guy wants to have a feed of fish keep a 5 to 7 lber for eating and leave those big ones to reproduce.  ;)

As a matter of fact I did this last year with good results. It was a blast and this trip I tried to duplicate it again but I couldn't. Water conditions weren't very good but I will try it again.  ;)

Nice fish! Sure are fat compared to the Lakers I typically catch.  What's the primary food source in that lake?
