Title: Fall-Fishing
Post by: TroutFishingBear on Sep 02, 2004, 05:59 PM
When fall rolls around, what species do you guys target most?

I target river trout in the colorado river. (big browns and big rainbows). I also walleye fish in the fall. I don't seem to do much bass fishing, but i may start doing more in the fall.

Fall means Salmon, Steelhead, and Smallies!
It's a great time of year to fish, until hunting season starts.
And then it's First Ice!

I love autumn. The smallmouth  and walleyes go on a feeding frenzy in the river.I used to hunt small game  and bowhunt this time of year, but when everybody around here gives up on fishing, I start going more. The pike , musky and trout know that winter is coming soon, and they seem to turn on as well.No crowds, no weeds,  and the water turns crystal clear.

Everything! ;D  Fall is the time for big fish and the best time to catch a trophy whatever species you fish for.  Most of my time on the water is spent chasing walleyes, smallmouth bass, salmon/steelhead and musky.  I also hunt alot in the fall so fishing time is limited but any rainy days and all Sundays I'm on the water.

Mostly steelhead and the occasional salmon.  I spend more time hunting in the fall than fishing.  It was great when I got my buck on opening day a couple of years ago because I spent the rest of the deer season alone fishing for steelies.

Smallmouth and spotted bass. Rainbow and brown trout in that order. The bass will do a reverse spring migration here in Tennessee and there is about a 2 1/2 month feeding benge. In the late fall which is Nov here in Tennessee the trout are starting to migrate up river in pre spawn mode,. lots of big browns. Fall is my favorite time of the year to fish. I stopped hunting several years ago because it cut into my fishing time. The fall fishing here is usually in full swing the end of Sept and it last until mid to late Dec.I can hardly wait. Fish2win

I'm going piking tomorrow on a fairly deep lake that has little weeds. Where would the pike be this time of year?
