Actually got out on open water yesterday with my son. Granted it was only from shore but we put on the bobbers and I took him to a small lake that was open. Things were going well and we were not catching any fish so I grabbed by Chronarch and St. Croix and tied on a brand new Pointer that I just got.
1. Took my time tying on the pointer while I had butterflies in my stomach.
2. Held rod out horizontal and set the break on the reel.
3. Look toward the spot I wanted to throw, took rod back and let her fly!!!!
4. Watch the pointer fly high and long while the sun was reflecting off the pointer.
5. Still watching it fly.......wow, this reel works really well and sure does throw that bait a long way!
6. Why am I still watching the pointer fly when my thumb is on the reel??
7. Come to the realization that I just lost a $15 lure!!!
