Heading up to Big turkey on Saturday morning. Never fished it before. Targeting gils. Any suggestions?

I have never fished it, so I am no help!  Hopefully some of these "quiet" guys can speak up to help you, like you have helped them!  Good luck!

bigr,
Had a cousin that lived on Big Turkey years ago on the north side. He used to catch TONS of nice crappies There was a channel on  north side that led to several cottages. He would come out of channel going south . Was a big weed bed about half way across lake. Fished a minnow on a hook. Pounded them!
Sorry, don't know about gills?

Ended up fishing little turkey. Did pretty well but nothing of size. I would give it another try sometime. Hope to get out over the next few weeks and try some more new water. I enjoyed the day and the search. Thanks for the help guys.
