Cardiff Lake Report, Early June
« on: Jun 12, 2008, 12:39 PM »
Hit lil' ol' Cardiff for a spell last night after work...  What can I say?  Is every fish in this lake 7"???  Basically I waded or fly'd it from shore & my buddy pontooned it.  He fished me out bad, like a 5:1 ratio!  So, he caught about 15 & I caught 3 :P.  Like I was saying, the biggest was 8", smallest was about 6".  So, a bit of fun & good fly practice at this lake in my opinion.  Probably the best pot-hole around for offshore fly-fishing.  If you can catch a 6" on a fly, then it makes catching the big ones easier, eh?  Had about 3 people show up asking me about perch in Cardiff...  Have no idea how this rumor started, but there is no perch in Cardiff - just want to get the story straight.  My friend did catch a weird looking trout with three strips on it, but it definately wasn't a perch.  They were biting on mosquitos & royal coachmen.  Nothing big enough to eat here- all the stock trout from last year must be gone...   That's about it.

I was at Cardiff on Friday with a buddy. Only caught a couple, they didn't start biting until the sun came out around noon. We left just before 2pm. Lots of action but couldn't seemed to land many. Both were aound the 6 or 7" mark, we did not measure thoguh.
There ARE perch in there. I caught one in January, no doubt it was a perch.
