That's awesome, hunt! Congrats.

I haven't been out on Oneida in a while but may try this weekend. Went 1/5 on kings with a steelie and a 18# laker on the big lake Sunday.

Got out on the lake for the first time in a while with my daughter on Saturday. I mostly anchor with the kids and fish slip floats. We caught several huge bass, a few good perch and sunnies. The bass are getting some shoulders on them, they look like the fish you get on Ontario now.  I picked up a jerk bait and caught a limit of walleye in 6 casts and lost a couple right be fore I left,  in 12 FOW, surprised me since I haven't been out in a while and wasn't expecting much. Tried to get back on those fish yesterday and took 3 or 4 waves over the bow and had to call it, didn't expect that wind.

I've been doing some tiger musky fishing elsewhere and have kind of got addicted to it so I haven't been on Oneida as much as usual.

shut up and fish

So what's the scoop on the blue/green algae blooms. Am I correct in saying this should have no affect on fishing? Heard they closed down the beaches to swimmers.

I have done well when the water was pea soup. It might push the fish a little deeper though.

With this big rain we could have a big bloom. The beach closing last week wasn't for algae I don't think. Pretty sure that was E. Coli.

Yeah. Last year my super shallow weed bite shut down with the algae and I had to move out to a deeper weed bite and change tactics a bit. Bite was really good once I adjusted though.

Also, FishUSA has all of those new Rapalas in stock and 10% off right now. I'll have my test subjects in a few days!
