Fished the last 2 days with my friends son, he knows the difference between fishing and catching now. Got a nice pile of gills and pumpkinseeds and one crappie. I think it will be good the next week or longer for them, the water just isn't warming up fast. I even saw someone 2 days ago getting perch in my spot, I thought they would be long gone by now from there. Going to be some warm days this week, gonna get the workk groove on and try to get out again Tuesday.

Hopefully I see some of you at the Annual OLA meeting tonight.

It's awfully quiet around here considering we are only a few days away from the walleye opener! I won't be out on opening day because of some family obligations. They will pay soon though.

Per Cornell, the adult walleye population has ticked up to around 600,000. That is the highest in many years. The perch numbers have ticked up a little in the past 2 years but they remain around 1 million.

I personally feel like the perch and walleye population may continue to grow more because the gobies are taking the pressure off the young of the year perch and eyes.

Oh and white perch numbers were on the decline for a few years but they had a good hatch last year so they should bump up too.
