I used a 6 weight, could of used the 3 though...the ice had JUST come off like 2 days before we went down....very sluggish fish.  Once they get focused on feeding again then they will be real fun to catch, my buddy who was down there in summer pulled up the anchor 8 times in one day to chase fish around the lake  :D
haha those REAL good pics are taken by a buddy..
he spent around 4 grand on that camera+that lens he was using...hes got a bag full of different lenses for different shots
(too much money for me ;D)

not much to say...fished a lake by my house a few times.
fish are really keying into chironimids so its fun to get 20 on the flyrod in a few hours... ;D

A few others have said it so i might as well say it too....those are some fantastic fish and I agree that you should try to get a few of the release shots in a magazine or two....send them a journal of your day and a picture or two...maybe they'd fit it in !!

BUT i finish school on the 13th and then have 3 finals to take...then its FISHING TIME  8)

i belive its a mix of a brown and something else. they get big and they can fight.

I believe they're actually a separate species. Not a true trout.
Notice the white-edged fins? Some have much stronger markings.

THey resemble a laker.......probably the closest thing we have to that over here in the NE US. Cool fish, great pics as DM said, and the backgrounds......always make the fish pics look better.

i would compare them to a laker, they stay down and they will spin the line and sometime get wrapped up in it.
definitely a fun fight getting those on the flyrod  8)

2 hours to the mountains from my house...some places are 5 mins, some are 4 hours  ;D

Wow, nice bull! 

Bull trout are actually char, most closely related to Dolly Varden.  In fact, from my knowledge, many people confuse the two. They're extremely aggressive and will often attack smaller trout, such as cutthroats.  I've never caught one, but have just acquired a tiny bit of knowledge about them thanks to this site and a few others.  ::)  I think it would be awesome to go out west and fish for the salmonids which inhabit that portion of North America.

yuppers, we have had them attack our cutties when were fighting them on smaller streams..then you throw on a 10 inch streamer and your in business  :D

went for cutties and bulls..wasnt great fishing i ended with 9, but all were of decent size with smallest being around 13 inches(good for a tiny stream)

tried throwing big streamers in the deeper holes for bulls..moved a couple big cutties, but no bulls..going back out tommorow(hopefully)

nice fish man...bull trout are protected in most US rivers that indeed have them..i know when i was in montana it was illegal to target them and if you hooked on it had to be released immediatly...you could get a ticket for taking it out for a pic. id love to tangle into one though..they are huge..especially as far as river fish are concerned ..nice fish man. float tubes all the way. ;D

however you can target them, take pictures, but they are all released.

well..its been fairly good fishing for cutthroat, been o-k for the bulls but no big fish.  Ive been using some fairly big streamers(upwards of 10 inches) i can see em down there but i think i have spooked quite a few, now that i know the fish are there...im gonna go ninja style to the pools  ;D
but..trying a new spot tommorow, hopefully will have some better luck.

as much as I'd like to say that the above pic sums up open water fishing and BRING ON THE ICE I'm sure I'll have a few more trips before freeze up

How do you nymph in lake water? I just cant figure out how i would fish those conditions away from a stream current. Do you just let it fall and let them take it on teh drop, do you work it a little (wouldnt imagine a nymph gives off much action naturally) Do you just pull it back to you slowly? Just curious how you fly fish stagnant water for bows with a nymph, obviously  you do it quite well lol. Unless im missing something and that is indeed moving water?

all of those work...
when its windy(which it usually is at that lake) ill usually use an indicator, if its calm ill take the indicator off...
one real fun thing is fishing boatmen strip strip strip-pause-BOOOM

Kyle,,  where are you getting those beauty fishes,,, out west? also do you release them,
monster smallie too,, keep the pictures coming...  the one with your back holding the fish with the sun is cool    keep it up.

in alberta....
i release all(with the exception of one) of them, i kept that one im holding in the last pic.
it was great fishing, I caught around 30 fish each day with not a single one under 16 inches.
My dad was flyfishing for the first time and caught around 20.
great times 8)
