all the trout were caught on flies, the pike were caught on bucktails.

went rainbow fishing again friday and sunday afternoon. my brother in law ties on a epoxy minnow fly early on sat

1st fish on the epoxy

2nd

and another smaller one

i finally get a good one on a crystal bugger


I finally swipe a epoxy from his box but only catch one little one and thats it for the day

So sunday i tie the now legendary epoxy minnow on one of my fly rods for my buddy and we go trolling. ten minutes in he hooks a nice one fights it for a minute or two and it spits the hook.
we loop back around the point and 5 minutes later he hooks a reel sizzling bow, takes him deep into his backing a few times and 20 minutes later, he lands this pig.

in about half an hour we hit a douple header  heres a pic of my buddy's half.  no pic of my half a 3.5lber

then the epoxy strikes again


then i get 4 in a row although benhead lost another bruiser in the meantime

finished up with a 5lber which was my biggest for the day but the pic was terribly out of focus

got 10 epoxys ordered today

Beautiful 'bows.  Just wondering what the natural forage base is for those fish is in that lake? Minnows? smelt?  Just curious.  Outstanding colors and size to those fish.

there are sticklebacks and dace in the lake but boatmen leeches and various nymphs seem to dominate their diet. its interesting how much girth they put on this year last year we caught fish up to around eight pounds but not nearly as thick as some the ones this year.

sweet bows.  where do you get your epoxies from?  i've got one in my flybox, but it's only silver and black without the detail of yours
