APD: Auburn man charged with assaulting teen who spilled his minnow bucket

A 32-year-old Auburn man was charged with assault after he allegedly used a tree branch to hit a 17-year-old who knocked over his bucket of minnows, the Auburn Police Department said Thursday.

Dwight T. Williams, of 2 Mahaney Ave., is accused of picking up the tree branch and using it to hit the teen's head and back during a verbal argument that started after the teenager knocked over the bucket of fish at William's home at 12:30 p.m. on May 3, police said.

The teenager suffered a laceration to his head and needed several stitches, police said.

Williams may have intended to use the minnows for fishing, Police said.

Williams was picked up on an arrest warrant Wednesday and charged with second-degree assault, a felony, and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.

Williams remains in the county jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.

See, the state regulating trapping bait because of VHS did this. If this guy was able to just catch his own, and not have to pay inflated bait shop prices, the poor kid would have never been assaulted and this guy would be fishing with freshly caught minnows, instead of in lockup. Blame the state!

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh  boy   ...trapper  opinion  time  ......  first  did  this  teen   knock  them  over  on purpose   and  if  so  shouldn't  he  be  charged  with   dis orderly  conduct ,   vandlism  and  cruelty  to  animals? second  why was  he  at dwights  house??? maybe  this  kid  needed a  good  old  thumping!!!!
