I like to buy my fishing stuff from Bass Pro what about you guy's?
-
SPORTSMENS WHAREHOUSE & GEAN TAYLORS !!!
-
Cabela's for the quality or hard to find stuff... Wal-Mart for the basics (hooks, sinkers, certain types of line, floats, etc.) that I wouldn't want to pay shipping on.
-
i pickup alot of gear from walmart....but i also like canadian tire....they seem to have a wider range of product....and of course...it depends on the location too....in manitoba...some carry far less than sister stores located in ontario...grump :P
-
I like to buy my tackle from the smaller individual shops. I'd rather give my dollar to "Mom and Pop" than the large retail chain, usually get better info too. ;)
-
Man, this one is a tough one. I llike getting my stuff from Dick's only because I tell all relatives and friends that for gifts I would like a Dick's card. So for birthdays, father's day, and Christmas I get tons of Dick's cards, so I get most of my tackle at no $ out of my pocket and I love it. Plus, Dick's always has great sales, that is when I get most of my stuff. Bass pro and cabelas don't have the sales like Dick's does, but they have more of every color, so I do get stuff from Bass pro and Cabelas, too, and I'm not running up the credit cards.
So for convenience, deals, and no $ out of my pocket, I would have to say Dick's sporting goods.

Since Gander Mountain opened in WNY, I've been geeting most stuff there but I usually go where I get the best prices on what I am looking for. Basically I shop at all the places on the list and then some.

same goes for me although wally world and C.T for some items.

i get mine all over the usa. i have a friend in va that ties all my small hair jigs for me at a fraction of the store costs. i went to biglots in mattydale when they ist opened and bought 1000 gold and bronze size6 aberdeen hooks. they were marked 50 for 50 cents. tom mann brand too. my bobbers i usally pay cost for like everyone else. i get my plastics bulk like small tubes and some twisters. i like to buy enough so that im not persuaded to go into the higher priced stores and usually enough so that im all set on tackle for years to come. i just started buying my jig hooks bulk [ 28.00 per 1000 delivered] and make my own using small round sinkers and crimp them on using pliers. hey it works for me. i can make them up for around 3 cents each. i was paying up to a quarter apeice!!!!!!!!! no more.

As a 17 year old kid, i cant afford to pay 7.49 for a rapala at an independently owned tackle shop taht i can get at k-mart for 5.49... i wish i could, but thats just too much of a difference.
-
Bass Pro - Wal mart - Dicks - Gander Mountain and Cabelas. Walmart and Bass Pro are real close to home for me. Dicks and Gander when traveling to pa and Cabelas shop online. There can never-ever be enough fishing tackle out there ;) I also enjoy stopping in at smaller tackle shops when traveling cause you can sometimes find great tackle at rock bottom prices and meet really friendly people.

EVERYWHERE ;D

I buy some stuff from bass pro. One of my 2 river trout reels is a bass pro specialty. I also have a medium action rod for bass that is bass pro. It is my fav. lake rod.
But besides that, I buy from 2 stores: The chain Sportsman's Warehouse, and the local store, Gene Taylors.
-
I get most of my stuff from the local guys. I try to avoid the chain stores. The local shops are the ones open at 6am or earlier when I need to get something I forgot and they are also the ones that carry the bait. I think they deserve my business more then the box stores. The little extra money is worth it for all that they do.
-
LL BEAN where the trout swim indoors and the doors have no locks!!they are always open so you can get what you need anytime!!

That is a cool store!! Was there once about 15 years ago.

Well I stock up when I go to Winnipeg and visit Pro Am tackle or the fishing hole. I also buy some lures at Canadian tire and walmart. Man I had a chance to visit the bass pro shop in Tennessee a couple weeks back. They had the biggest aquarium I have ever seen. What a supply of tackle. I wish we had a store like that in Manitoba.
-
I buy most of my stuff from a local bait shop ... but i do buy from wal-mart , cabelas , and bass pro shops ... i get my jigs for ice fishing from jamminjigs.com .... i like a kid in a candy store when i do vist any of these places

I usually like to buy from local shops, but now there is a gander Mt. about a mile from my house and it is hard to resist doing in every week.
-
I was buying most of my stuff from Bass Pro but have been getting more and more from Cabela's. They seem to have a wider selection of other items as well.
-
I like dicks or gander mtn. but the some of best deals are on ebay. also if anyone here is from NY and are passing the plattsburgh area there is tackle shop called Gordon's Marine it is about 2mi west of plattsburgh on rt 3. The owner of the shop is one of those persons you just have to meet. She has one of the lagest selections of everything (salt, fresh, and flyfishing). If you do stop in be prepared to stay at while b/c she is a talker and says some of the craziest, and most hilarious things.
-
There are no chains on kodiak but there is a sportmans wherehouse in anchorage. I rarely go the sportsmans warhouse cuz there fly fishing gear and selection sucks. I do most all my shopping with Cabelas and Macks Sport Shop which is on kodiak.
-
For the more expensive stuff I buy at Gander Mountain because I get a discount from them. Also they will price match the bigger catolog places and I don't have to pay shipping. For the smaller stuff I buy from local Mom and Pop stores. I don't mind spending a little more there but will save $30-50 dollars when I can.
I'm cheap but not easy......

We just got our first Bass Pro Shop in Ontario last year. i have made multiple trips as well as a few internet orders. As for Gander Mount and Cabelas neither have stores in Ontario or Im sure i would be even more poor.
-
i like to buy from the mom & pop shops because of friendly service and good reliable info. even though most of my stuff lately has been come from gander mountain because of selection and convenience
-
I have been out of fishing for the most part for about 15 years. Back then I used to mail order from Bass Pro Shops. Does anyone know if the prices in their stores are the same as the internet prices?
-
The people at the two local, non-chain hunting/fishing stores around me have bad attitudes and higher prices. Though it would be nice to support the local guys, the extra price I would pay would only get me aggravated. I still stop in once in a while, but generally only to have my conceptions reinforced, and usually its, Yep - they same a**es are still here, going over to Dick's I guess.
-
I have a local shop here too. Prices are higher, but if I could get the idle chat, recommendations, etc I would pay it. But the guy who owns it doesn't like to talk to the customers. In the end, that's the only thing that the little guys have over the chains. They can't usually beat the prices.

LL BEAN where the trout swim indoors and the doors have no locks!!they are always open so you can get what you need anytime!!
I'm with you-occasionally kittery trading post.
-
Chose Gander Mtn because its the biggest/best store thats the closest to me I like to look at what I am buying dont really enjoy Catalog shopping
-
Living 4 miles from Dicks, Bass pro, Gander Mtn and dah Wal-mart. I find my best deals on line > no shipping , no tax. All the big chains did was take 50% of the tackle stores out of business. On line does not mean E-bay! I'm talking reliable sites. My vote > others

SPORTSMENS WHAREHOUSE & GEAN TAYLORS !!!
where is this?????
-
The Fishin Hole in Calgary, AB
-
Dad's Tackle Box in Buxton.
-
Get the majority of my stuff at wallmart and canadian tire....if I happen to be in Winnipeg I check what they have at SIR and Wholesale Sports...or if im in the states I stop in at Sheilds in Minot that place is HUGE!

ebay is the ticket for a lot of stuff but gander is a close second when i can't get what i want on there. i have watched dicks go down hill for many years
-
dicks is absolutely ridiculous,im trying to beef up my tackle this year, they never seem to restock their lures, basically empty shelves for the last 2 months, cant bother to waste the gas ???
-
Dad's Tackle Box in Buxton.
Other > same here. excellent service and all the info you want ,fresh or salt.
-
cabelas works for me.
-
Gander Mountain most of the time, occasionally get stuff at Walmart.
-
CABELAS! i just had my brother order my second baitcaster from their, and our first "working" fishfinder :D. i love cabelas and always will purchase things from that store, hunting or fishing.
-
90% of the time I buy from Cabelas on-line. Terminal tackle (line, floats, etc) come from my local bait shop. Cabelas make it easy to use with there great customer service and quick turn around times on my orders.
-
I like Dicks Sporting Goods becuase of the thier rewards points. Spend $300 and get a $10 certificate.
groceries, gas, food = FREE FISHING GEAR
-
Cabelas hands down, unless it's something I need in a hurry and then it's my local bait shops.
-
Went to Cabela's a few months ago and found their prices just out of line...got to pay for the mounts and aquarium, I guess. Try to get as much as I can from local stores, what I can't, I go to Gander, and anywhere with over 50% off or more.
-
LL Bean for its excellent service and quality. :)
-
I don't want to spend an extra 30 dollars to go to erie just to go to gander when i can go to pymy in the spring and walk shoreline and get 30 -40 lures every year sometimes more sometimes less for 5 dollars in gas
-
I like to support the local stores
-
local, but mostly Canadian tire
-
I mix it up between local shops and online stores. It depends who has what when I want it. ;)
-
Bass pro and dicks
-
i buy all my lures from the trees on the other side of the river! i litterly filled 2 tackleboxes of raps and rattletraps and swimbaits from a canal by me. im gonna try waiding in there and see if i can find some snagged lures also. i found a few last year like that and the bodys were pristine, just had to put new trebles on em. and when i do buy lures its from fish307 or wallyworld.
-
It all depends what I'm buying. If I'm going to get something more on the expensive side, I shop around. If its only a couple bucks difference, I try to buy from Fish307. But I just can't afford to be loyal when it get down to bigger differences. My other two spots to check are Dicks and Walmart. For lures, not everything is carried everywhere, so I go wherever I can get them. I get hooks, sinkers, swivels, and stuff like that wherever I happen to be when I need them.
I rarely order anything from Cabela's or Bass Pro unless I can't find it anywhere else. But their catalogs definitely have a welcome home next to my toilet.
-
i try to buy stuff at dicks but the good lures r always out of stock so ive given up shopping there. fish 307 and the outdoorsman r my go to shops. and nemecs if i forgot something on my way north.
-
I buy most of my stuff from Dave's Bait & Tackle Mayfield, NY
