Most of the property along that creek is private. Most folks don’t appreciate trespassing. Hopefully, they call the law without confronting people. I’d make the call myself first in these times. I’m with Trap… lots of folks on here have native Indian heritage…..
I fish onieda once In a while... i know there is reservation there but I havent a clue as  to where their boundaries are....
Is the hatchery creek reservation? Sounds like the land surrounding most of the creek is private and not reservation?!?!?!
Most definitely sounds like a hot bee hive that's getting shaking by big ole bear

None of the property anywhere near the hatchery is reservation land. Most of it is actually owned by the hatchery. The rest is private property on the west side.
I’m not sure what people on MFF’s native Indian heritage has to do with this…I’m pretty sure not one of them has or is about to go take walleye out of the hatchery creek out of season….I’d actually be pretty angry if these guys were making my people look this bad.
This isn’t really about native Americans and their inherited rights. These guys are fully aware what their doing is unethical. Their own people have it written right in their environmental rules. If it was about their inherited rights, this would have happened 45 years ago and we wouldn’t even be discussing it today.

Oneida reservation is not on Oneida lake  they have land  they own some on the lake  but it is not part of the reservation   ,the  3  casinos they own and operate are  not on reservation land!  ..... as  far as i know Oneida lake  and river system  was taken during the  American revolution  ,the Oneidas supported   the  British and  we  defeated them  in  1776 and the war of  1812   the lake and river system  were taken  as strategic and  shipping interest (it's a  gateway to the the  middle  of  north  America) .
i do not believe  the  people involved in the fish spearing are  locale , there are  four nationally recognized nations: the Oneida Indian Nation in New York, the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin, in and around Green Bay, Wisconsin in the United States; and two in Ontario, Canada: Oneida at Six Nations of the Grand River and Oneida Nation of the Thames.
this is  going to  get bigger  and from  past  events   it  will become  nasty . there   really is two sides to this and unfortunately  hate  misunderstanding greed and  all those  nasty human characteristics are  going to make this real ugly.
as  far as i see   everyone is  up in arms  over   some  fish  and  these  people  want  a treaty honored and restored....if  people  worked  together and  used their  heads   we all could  win

Trap,
Your absolutely right about coming together on this. That’s what finally happened in Wisconsin after 20 years of fighting. They found a middle ground that worked for everyone and helped the fishery improve.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out for sure. I don’t think the leaders up at Aukwesane want much more bad press..they already have 2 black eyes.

They where here first . Then the white man came in an kicked them off thier land. This instance is out of hand but as for what they are allowed to take and eat I agree they should be allowed to take what they want and in  whatever amount they want as long as LEGAL FISHING to take these fish is used and no matter what ETHNICITY you are SPAWNING SEASON is a closed season..

doubt it will but hopefully they resolve this before next year, but i dont think it will and where does it end netting, 100's of Native Americans spearing with no size or number limits hurting the population what about other bodies of waters and other types of fish and game and lets say your privately owned land it falls into the areas covered by treaty can they raid your private pond or hunt your privately owned land, and I would guess most of NY land is covered by some ancient indian treaty

X2.
Couldn’t agree more. I believe all spawning fish should be left alone.

you guys are kinda thick ......you think these men traveled hundreds of miles to spear  a few walleyes????  they did it a act of legal disobedience to  be  ticketed  and arrested  to bring this into  court.....the  state  knows  this and  wants to side step it so  let them go ......it's not going to go away...arrest them it's what they want  give them  time in court to  either prove  or  be  disproved ,it's that simple

I agree trap but why are people thick,,,what will be the outcome and the results of said outcome is what has me concerned...yes its not about the walleye right now but if they get the green light to do as they want, then it will be about the fish and game
