Title: Lake Lenore
Post by: anglerbrian on Jun 07, 2011, 10:50 AM
Made it out Lake lenore (Small) yesterday. Fishing was decent. I caught 9 walleye ranging from 2-6 lbs.
Kept a couple for supper.  I was surprised we didnt even get one Pike. My sister had a nice perch on but it never made it into the boat.
It was a beautiful day for fishing.  Things should start to pick up now that the water has warmed a little.

Is there still a mercury warning for LL?

Where on little lake were you?

I was out in front of the house on the west side for the most part.
As for mercury you will find it is in every lake in southern Sask , as it is a component of our soil.
Dont worry about it unless you plan on living on fish only.

A little info on mercury in Sask Lakes

 Also from the fishing guide
February 12, 2009 - Revised Fish Consumption Guidelines Established for Lake Lenore
After reviewing results of recent testing for mercury in walleye and northern pike taken from Lake Lenore, the Ministry of Environment has issued revised guidelines for eating fish from the lake:

Walleye:

• Children and pregnant women should not eat walleye over 40 centimetres long.
• Healthy adults should limit their consumption of walleye over 40 cm. long, as follows:

o No more than one meal/week if walleye are between 40 and 50 cm. long.
o No more than one meal/two weeks if walleye are between 50 and 60 cm. long.

• Walleye longer than 60 cm. should not be eaten.

Northern Pike:

• Children and pregnant women should not eat northern pike over 50 cm. long.
• Healthy adults should limit their consumption of northern pike over 50 cm. long to no more than one meal/week.

One meal is 0.23 kilograms (1/2 pound or 8 ounces) of fish

Ya I've hooked a couple there too. There some more being caught all the way south on the little lake as well. Seems that the bait has to be moving. Also had luck at lungs launch as well.

Tried LL again on Monday. Fishing was pretty good on the little lake. I talked to a couple of guys who were fishing the big lake and they were doing very well. The walleye they were catching were a little bigger on Avg than what we had. didnt have the camera at the lake so snapped one at home.

Hey W.W. hows the fishing this summer? So far I have only been to Stony (near Humboldt) and Little lake Lenore. The pike there do fight nice,  and are tasty.
I have yet to make it out to Last Mountain or Fishing lake and I hear the water levels are very high . My brother is going to give Deif a try next week and scout it out for Walleye and Rainbows.
Good luck this season and take care.

Nice fish there anglerbrian. Just wondering if you knew where to launch on the big lake? I've been to the little lake lots, but never the big lake. I'm assuming you can get thru from the little lake to the big lake with the water as high as it is this year, but is there any obstacles?

Hi anglerbrian,
The fishing for me so-far has been great. ;D
I have been able to try a few different lakes this open water season and have picked up a few fish at each. Fishing Lake have been really good as of late, {see my fishing reports} and it still had quite high water level.
Not sure what the situation or fishing is like at LML. :-\

Hope your bro finds the bows and walleyes.

Good luck this open water season to you as well. :)

Hey Ochocenko. There is a launch on the big lake as well just a little north from the little lake on the west side. It is called Lungs. You can easily get into the big lake from the little lake the water is a few feet deeper there than it used to be as you can tell from all the flooded out trees.
No real obstacles. just watch your water depth.  I am heading there again tomorrow. I have tried Stony (near Humboldt) a few times and it is picking up but you have to work for them.

Went fishing today in spite of the rain. My fishing buddy chickened out and she is sorry now. The fishing was awesome.
This time the original thinfin in gold was what they wanted.. I use a short section of red  XT mono with a swivel on one end and a snap on the other to attach the thinfin to the main line. This way I can add a weight to get the lure to the proper depth.  Today 12-15 feet.

Went out again today in 33c heat.  The fishing was almost as good as in the rain. Pam  just had to go after seeing what I caught last time out.
I found a new spot and rediscovered an old one . Pam caught a nice 8lb pike as well as the walleye. I am going to bring my brother out on Sat  and see if I can find some fish for him.

Nice pile of walleye again, anglerbrian. 8)

Looks like storm cranks are the hot ticket out there.
I also like to use hot n tots for walleye and pike.

How are the 2 lakes for algae this year?

Title: Re: Lake Lenore
Post by: anglerbrian on Aug 09, 2011, 12:33 PM
Hey Water Wolf. The algae has not been bad at all this year. Even Stoney which is almost always green this time of year has been ok.
The storm cranks do do the job as well as Rapala shad raps and husky jerks. In 12-15 feet the Hot n tots are great with no need to add weight. I can tell right away when a Pike hits as they do the head shake and then head for the bottom.

The St Brieux side of LL was and still is really bad for algae but it has cleared up some. The big lake is usually pretty good with some crystall clear spots depending on wind. Little lake is also pretty good this year.

First time on Lake Lenore for the summer 2012 and it was windy! Nearly got blown into the tree tops a couple of times but managed a few walleye small pike and a Whitefish.
I have caught these (Whitefish) ice fishing but never before trolling with crank baits.

Had a little family fishing day today in the rain. My nephew had his boat My brother brought his boat out from Saskatoon and I had my little lund.
What a day! non stop Walleye and pike  action and Pam and I caught half a dozen perch as well as the the Pike and Eyes.

This is the most perch in one day for us on the little lake for a few years. Nice to see them hitting while trolling cranks. If we had keyed on them we could have caught a lot more. But I have the location marked for future .
Every one caught fish today kept a few for lunch and released a bunch.

Tried the little lake again today with my daughter and son-in law. Fishing was pretty good lots of Walleye a few pike and two jumbo perch.
The lake is so full of little minnows it must have been a good spawn year. This must be why the walleye are so fat for their length.

A thunderstorm erupted and we had to clear off the lake in a hurry. I have never seen 6 boats scurry off the lake in such a short time.

May 19 2013 time to get the boat into the little lake. No dock but launch is ok for small boats.
I tried first at the north end in the shallows and caught a bunch of pike on len thompsons drifting and casting.
Later trolling along the West side  with thinfins I caught three nice Walleye and a dozen more pike.
Water level is way up again this year. The fishing is good and will only get better as the water warms.
Hope they get the dock in soon.

Fishing on LL is still great has been for years now. Was out Sunday with a friend and we had pretty steady action all afternoon.
Was surprised how many people were out there considering the high winds. The shoreline was also packed.
Some of the days catch. all the pike were released this time.

First outing to Lake Lenore this year. Walleye fishing was a bit slow we only caught 5 between the two of us. The pike were on fire though and made for a busy afternoon. Water temp was only 54f.

One friend and I went the lake Lenore as my second time for this season on Sunday July 26th.
It was hot and windy.
We only caught three small  walleye,  they all went back.
I hope  my third  time as my last time this year will be getting better in  Fall .

Friday Sept 25th  was my EDO,   I went to lake Lenore fishing.  the weather was so warm. even I could call hot, and so windy.
Duo to the past couple of  times,  I were not so lucky on the lake,  I went there alone and  my buddy didn't go with me this time.
I caught 7 walleye and one pike,    kept  3 eater walleye and the pike, others were smaller and  released.
What an ending for the soft water fishing this year.

Took awhile but I finally got the boat wet at Lake Lenore. Fished from 2:30 until 5:45. Ended up with 9 Walleye and 8 pike caught. Kept 4 walleye for supper.
They were hitting a neon orange storm thinfin and a large storm wild eye. rubber perch.
Next outing will be Last Mountain or Fishing Lake.

Way to go anglerbrian, that's a dandy fishing day. 8)

I was at Fishing Lake on June 6th off shore.
Caught 4 pike + 2 that shook off and a few nibbles.

No walleye that day, but if you go in a boat you should find them. ;)

Good luck where ever you go, on your next outing.
