I forgot to add.....that fly was a mediocre producer today. The mini-clouser was the ticket.

You're absolutely right Trapper. On average, the Clouser Minnow will produce more fish than anything else in my kit. I think I've tied more variations of that fly than any other. They all work!

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

I tried some surface stuff and even did some short line nymphing. They wanted the minnow. There's a bunch of pinheads and other fry in the stream right now. In a few weeks they'll switch over to top water forage. Then it's Hoppa time!   ;D

In clear water, I love a good ol' grey ghost.   Really kicks butt.   I also like to tie a grey ghost pattern, but to substitute yellow saddle tips as opposed to the standard grey, the yellow works especially well in tannic stained water.

Of course then there is the wooly bugger...

HERE is one i use for pannies
i call it an atomic ant,
HOOK-3906 wet---94840 dry mustad
SIZE--12-14--16
THREAD--8/0---NOTE, in dollar store 2 for a dollar LOOK at the thread see the small hairs
hackle--may try off colors
tail---none
BODY-FLOSS[BLACK,BROWN,RED,WHITE] tie rear section larger then front
RIB--NONE
THORAX--NONE
ABDOMEN and legs none
this is just a simple fly,BUT it does work for me,adjust to the water you are fishing
i use the cheap thread from the dollar store because of the way it holds AIR BUBBLE'S
LOOK AT IT UNDER A MAG. GLASS

Been MIA due to work and unfortunately missed a lot of great fishing opportunities this Spring.  Trying to get back into the game.  A friend introduced me to  'mousing' for big inland browns at night.  Here is my take on a waking mouse.  Should work equally well for bass....
