 this is  a fun fly  great for bass  and if you get the small cutter  browns like it too ....and i get my foam at micheals craft store and the doll eyes ......

I was playing down by the pond today when I noticed a large black insect closer inspection I realized it was a hellgrimmite.i got back to the bench I had to try to mimic him.

Bob have you done any of those in a natural color foam?  i bet they would look great..... i can see a  few going in my box

Well no. I need to be able to see them on the water. I’d guess that a natural color would work but the top colors are really intended for me to be able to see them. They look pretty tiny at 20 yards. Different light, seems I can see different colors better.

Years ago I was fishing oriskaney falls  and fish were rising and nothing I had worked ....a fisherman must have felt sorry for me and handed me 2flys and I started catching fish.a almost forgotten fly today they were simple generic emerger patterns I always carry a few in the dry fly box  good thing they double as a Caddis in a pinch and gills love them too.....

 
Size 12 daiichi 1130 hairs ear and squirrel dubbing deer hair wing and I added a little sparkle in the ribbing...good fly simple and it can save your day
