ours to start producing. Romas did well, cherries and pears are real late. Monster year for acorn squash, salad stuff
and green beans however. zucchinis had it rough, but I'm ok with that.....

From my recollection it seems if it gets cool early we end up with a mild winter. But don't hold me to that, as my recollections are not always accurate like most people.

Can't recall a frost this early though. Anybody else?

I've been in Vermont over 20 years. I always expect a frost mid September and the last frost mid May...which is why "everybody" puts their gardens out on Memorial Day. Killing frost and/or snow can happen in mid October. if I don't get a frost in September I'm happy, but usually the gardens are done by now anyway. I just cover the greens which I can keep alive until Thanksgiving.

Northern VT, NH and parts of Maine got a frost the other day. I have yet to go outside and see if I got one here last night in Rutland County.

Makes sense but not the case here in Northern Indiana. Usually don't get our first frost until sometime in October.
