How many of you have tried tying on a short leader with a fly or jig to the end hook of a popper or rapala? I saw the rig in In fisherman and I think it would be great for big bulls in my local lake. If they don't take the popper they will nail the fly.

Instead of worrying about a dropper, i just use small soft plastics suspended below a small float on light line.

Try a foam dry fly that won't sink with a nymph dropped below it. Works awesome!
