Might not be quite so cool as Cider's upcoming retreat, but...

Anyways, I start college next week at Middlebury College in Vermont. But for three days before classes start, I get to go on a school-run trip to the Green Mountain National Forest with a handful of otehr freshmen... to go fly-fishing! Is this the coolest college ever or what? Ive never fly fished before, but they said thats not a problem, so Ill get to meet some new people and learn to fly fish. I cant wait

Once i get up there, im gonna have some adjustments to make fishing-wise  (i read that its legal to take northern pike... by shotgun?) I hope my roommate doesnt mind a  little tackle in the room

Highly controversial subject in these parts Tim.  Since you are about to start your journey as a college student, perhaps you should limit your shotgunning to a funnel, hose, and twelve pack of your favorite  (legal) beverage!!

I wish it was the same at my university.  But we have a pond on campus that you can fish year round at even ice fishing_{my favorite} so even if I am the only one fishing I wont feel like a fool when I haul out pike and perch.

I wish I went to that college.  We used to sneak in to fish this small one acre pond on my campus until the animal rights nazies posted no fishing signs everywhere.  It did not matter that we all parcticed C&R.  After that,  I tried a few more times but got kicked out withing 10 min by rent-the-caps.  Man,  there were some nice bass in that place! It's refreshing to hear that other insitiutions of higher learning still promote fishing as a legitimate activity.  Good luck in school!               J

that's great, i went to Clarkson in Potsdam, NY and went on a similar trip there...the best part about it was that i met guys that i was buddies with for the next four years and am still in touch with....and it all started with a little trip to the adirondacks...(and a couple thirty packs of busch light...hahaa)
