Fishy Day
« on: Jun 23, 2019, 07:09 PM »
I fished Cheshire Lake with my younger son from about 1 to 2:30 PM.

Sunny, blue skies and 80 degrees.

We caught a mix of sunfish, one perch and a few bass, plus two (11" and 13") rainbows and a small (9") brown below the waterfall that marks the outlet where Cheshire Lake ends and the South Branch of the Hoosic starts..

Then we went to a private pond and caught a few brook trout. We kept one.

Later in the afternoon, I fished the North Hoosic in North Adams by myself from 3:45 to 5:45 PM.

I started below the entrance to Natural Marble Bridge State Park and fished downstream toward the Eclipse Mill dam.

I caught two 13" rainbows behind the Beaver Mill parking lot.

Then I drove downstream and landed and an 8" brown below the roll dam.

I waded downstream and lost a 16" rainbow beneath Old Glory Rock.

I kept going toward the Eclipse Mill dam and caught a 15" rainbow about 30 yards below the dam and an 18" rainbow another 60 yards further down.

Then I headed back up toward my car. En route, I spooked a beaver, which leapt into the river, so I had to detour further upstream along the western back before fording the river and wading back to my car.

Tonight, I grilled the brook trout and dined on it and some Chinese fried rice, which I washed down with a Troeg's Hop Back Amber Ale and followed it up with an Alec Bradley Plantation Blend cigar.
