I will be fishing the Toughman tourney this year for the first time with a friend that has been fishing it for years. Anyone else on here fishing it this year? Guess it will be April 30th. He says the eyes get pretty finicky at this time of the year. Whats your guys experience?

We fish it every year, usually a real slow bite but all that means is someone could catch 3 decent eyes and walk away with 2 grand.

where and when???

If someone wants to pm me the details when they're available I'll try to get it posted in the Tourney thread.

So how did everyone on here do? A 3.65 lb walleye took home $1060. The rest of the eys were 2.5lbs, 1.8lbs, and fourth place was taken with a 1.5lb eye. I heard that only 6-7 walleye were caught all day long. Winning trout were not very impressive either with the top fish at 4.35lbs and the next 2 at 3.7lbs split 2nd and 3rd.
It was brutal out there!!! That wind just beat you up! We knew exactly where the walleye were, but there was no way to get to them in that wind. Forced 80% of the boats into the canyon. We tried our spot but just couldn't hold on. Finally forced us into the canyon.
The trout bite was pretty strong for us. I caught about a dozen trout ranging from 14"-16", and one brown that was 20". I was pounding them pretty hard on a brookie countdown. They also willing took minnows on jigs.
I would like to hear what was working for everyone else!

we got the 2nd place trout so it wasn't a complete failure. That wind was miserable.we caught everything on minnows and swimbaits.
